FELIX
Canine Prosthetics
INDUSTRIAL DESIGN - CONCEPT GENERATION - VIRTUAL MODELING - CMF - VISUALIZATION
FELIX is a canine prosthetic platform designed with full customization and animal comfort in mind.
The ABS 3D-printed body is made according to a 3D scan of each animal’s attachment area, and fits perfectly to each animal. It is then held securely in place with a steel-cable ratcheting system. The carbon fiber tibia is stiff, lightweight, and strong; the external adjustable tendon provides a comfortable level of suspension depending on the activity, and the CNC’d foot and replaceable outsole give this device a lifetime of use.
Drawing upon my learned experience in high performance cycling and outdoor industry components, I developed this prosthetic to be the most comfortable and durable extension of your dog’s missing appendage.
Virtual Reality sketching tools were an integral part of this project.
Both in the iterative stages of early concept development and refinement, and then for full CAD assembly validation and measuring at 1:1 scale.
